New Zealand Seafoods originated in 1982 as a father/son importing business. With high asperations of introducing New Zealands famous greenshell mussels to the states, the father/son duo was very successful. Restaurants now feature New Zealand greenshell mussels as gourmet delicacies and have become a requested favorite among consumers. Native kiwi, Phil Hall, who became president in 1987, took the ball and hasnt stopped running. After five years of importing strictly fresh New Zealand fish and shellfish, the company then expanded to importing frozen products. Generating such a high volume of product increased sales and propelled New Zealand Seafoods into a larger location. Ten years of steady business launched the company into yet an even larger warehouse of 70,000 square feet. Located in the heart of Los Angeles seafood district, New Zealand Seafoods is proud to be Americas largest New Zealand seafood importer.
